The importance of self acceptance

The Department of Health and Aged Care is developing the National Roadmap to Improve the Health and Mental Health of Autistic People. This is related to the National Autism Strategy, but is happening through its own separate process. To find out more, visit the Department of Health and Aged Care website.

We know that supporting the health and mental health of Autistic Australians is a very important issue. In this space, we still want you to share your ideas about how we can do better with:

how easy it is for Autistic people to find and use healthcare (including for mental health)
how well healthcare professionals understand and support Autistic people.

Help and support

Please be aware that this Ideas Wall contains information about the experiences of Autistic people and some of the barriers they face. If you need support to deal with difficult feelings after reading or participating on the Ideas Wall, there are free services available to help you.

Participant’s ideas and experiences will assist the Department of Social Services in developing the National Autism Strategy and identifying actions needed to improve outcomes for Autistic people.
